VdTÜV Position: Making TTIP a success

Enhance conformity assessment for free trade between the EU and US before entering one-way street

Reflecting the increasing internationalisation of trade, the TÜV organisations operate globally and offer a wide and interdisciplinary portfolio in their role as industrial service providers. From motor vehicles, medical devices, toys, household appliances and sports equipment up to pressure vessels, lifts, machinery, solar modules, sports boats, textiles and foods, the TÜV organisations test and monitor almost all tradable products.

With their competence, neutrality and objectivity, the TÜV organisations ensure that manufacturers, trading partners, official authorities and consumers can trust in the conformity of products. Independent conformity assessment is therefore an integral part of well-functioning trade. VdTÜV and its members support the ambitious project of a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and seek to make it a success by contributing specific solutions.

VdTÜV welcomes the negotiations regarding a free trade agreement between the EU and the USA to achieve discrimination-free, mutual and simplified access to the market for motor vehicles. However, crucial assements have to made before closing the negotiations.
